There are thousands of English-language sites about China. Some are excellent and many are not. Here are a few I recommend. I will add to this list as I find more. If you find any that you think visitors to this site would enjoy, please let me know. I'd love to learn about them.
From the West
Asia Society Numerous resources for not only China but all of Asia—social issues, women artists and musicians, food, and much more. One section of the site is devoted to teachers, young adults, and children. The teachers’ site includes many resources, including lesson plans. For example, there is an upper elementary/middle school lesson plan, Concept of justice in Chinese Society, which uses a village council decision about a murder as a point of discussion for the students. Other lesson plans include Angel Island, Chinatowns, mapping timelines, etc. The Asia Society is an international organization dedicated to strengthening relationships and deepening understanding among the peoples of Asia and the United States.Shadow Puppets This shadow puppet site is not only beautifully designed but interactive. It provides the history and description of shadow puppets, and you can design your own show using puppets, props, motions and music provided on the site. Produced by the Education Department of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.
